Samantha,[1] referred to as Sam, was a girl from Manchester who appeared as an Unfortunate in Series 1, Episode 8 (Manchester). According to The Caretaker, she comes to school on a rollercoaster.

Sam appeared in the eighth episode of the series, which originally aired on November 18, 2007.
Sam's Journey Through The Tower[]
On Floor 6 'Black Widow', Sam received no votes as Saboteur and she voted for Jack because "I saw him sucking up some spiders, and there was two spiders in his tube". Renee and Oaiss also voted for Jack, while Jack, Isobel and Tim all voted for Oaiss, causing a tie in the voting. The real Saboteur was Jack. As the team failed and Jack drew the short straw, he got trapped.
On Floor 5 'Feed Me Lies', Sam received two votes as the Saboteur, one from Tim because "She kept quiet when we chose one", and one from Isobel because "She wasn't really getting involved with the questions and she was just going along with what we said". Sam voted for Isobel as Saboteur because "Some of the questions she would have known, because she is quite clever". Oaiss and Renee also voted for Isobel. The real Saboteur was Isobel, and as the team passed, Isobel was automatically trapped.
On Floor 4 'Snake Attack', Sam received one vote as Saboteur from Oaiss because "She was always giving a different pattern to what I was thinking". Sam voted for Renee as Saboteur because "She wasn't really putting in any discussion to our decisions. She was just like murmuring yes, no to anything we said". Renee voted for Tim, and Tim voted for Oaiss, causing everyone to get one vote each (they clearly don't trust each other). The real Saboteur was Oaiss, and as the team passed, he was automatically trapped.
On Floor 3 'Wicked Wardrobes', Sam received one vote as Saboteur from Tim because "The lights were always on really near her door". Sam voted for Tim as Saboteur because "All the lights were kind of, like near me and Renee. None of them were near his and they were an unreachable point from his door". Renee also voted for Tim. The real Saboteur was Tim, and as the team passed, Tim was trapped.
On Floor 2 'One Way Out And There Can Only Be One Winner (Fight For Freedom)', Sam went against Renee and lost 4 points to 2. Sam said "I feel OK, but I'm a bit upset because I got trapped on the last floor, but I suppose I did really well to get here".

- Sam received votes on every floor except for Floor 6.
- Another Unfortunate named Samantha (who was referred to by her whole name) later appeared in Series 2, Episode 2 (Watford). Both were not chosen as a Saboteur and finished as a runner-up.
